Remote Working & Security

POSTED ON

24th March 2020

Over the years we have seen many organisations adopt a flexible working culture, whether that be working from home, hot desking etc. However, increased flexibility can mean higher risk to security.

The current COVID-19 challenge is forcing many employees to self-isolate and remain at home, making it extremely important that your IT network and infrastructure is not now opened up to security threats.

We are advising our customers to consider the following:

  • Multifactor Authentication
  • VPN Encryption
  • Mobile Device Management, such as Microsoft Intune
  • Antivirus Software
  • Is your connectivity capable of handling the large traffic caused by your teams working remotely?
  • What devices are your teams using? Are they using personal devices to access the network?

Collaboration software, such as Office 365, is built to allow your teams to work together wherever they are, at any time. With a brand like Microsoft you can be sure that you are in safe and secure hands however, we strongly recommend the use of Microsoft’s single sign on and multifactor authentication capabilities. This provides an extra layer of security to your business network.

A message we promote year-round, is to ensure that your business-critical data is backed up. This is the same with your Office 365 data. Microsoft’s stance is that they are responsible for the infrastructure of the cloud-based service, but the responsibility of the data lies with the end user.  To learn more about our Office 365 solutions visit: https://www.couno.co.uk/office-365-backup-pricing-calculator/

We want all our customers to remain as safe as possible throughout this challenging period, and that includes being cyber-safe!

To discuss any of the above further, please contact your account manager, or book in a free 15 minute consultation here.
